In late 2018, the public helped the Humane Society of the Black Hills raise funds to replace the kennels on the adopt floor. The Humane Society of the Black Hills (HSBH) Board of Directors has approved Mason Company kennels for the kennel project. Kennels are set to be installed early to mid-November, so we are reaching out now for fosters, volunteers, and adopters to help place these dogs in homes in preparation for the project.
Our goal is to place as many dogs as we can in homes in the upcoming weeks prior to the kennel replacement, so to get a jumpstart, we have discounted dog adoption fees – 50% off of adult and senior dog prices, good through Sept 30th, 2019.
For those who cannot adopt a dog but still want to help, we have fostering and volunteering opportunities available. We are currently taking names for individuals and families interested in opening their homes to a foster dog for a short time during the fall season. Those who cannot bring an animal into their home may inquire about being added to a list for volunteering to walk the animals that are still here during the project.
If you can help, please contact Caitlin at 605-341-3217 or email us at volunteer@hsbh.org. We are taking names for fosters and volunteers now and will call those interested with details in the very near future.
