Financial Donations
The Humane Society of the Black Hills (HSBH) takes in about 4,000 animals each year. In 2023, the HSBH took in an average of nearly 11 animals each day. Donations to our shelter remain local and help animals right here in Rapid City. Your donation to the HSBH will the animals in our community buying food, medicine, providing shelter, and supporting animal care in our community.
Memorial Donations
Honor your loved one, friend or pet with a contribution to the Humane Society of the Black Hills. Memorials are meaningful ways to recognize loved ones while supporting thousands of animals in need at the Humane Society of the Black Hills. Memorials can be sent to “HSBH, 1820 E. St. Patrick St., Rapid City, SD 57703” completed using our online donation form.
Along with the name of the individual or pet honoree, please include contact information of the next of kin to notify of your donation, including his/her name and address.
Planned Giving
Planned giving is an act of long-lasting kindness will help thousands of animals each year right here in our community. By recognizing the HSBH in your planned giving, your gift will continue to impact thousands of animals in need for years to come.

Incorporated on November 29, 1968, the HSBH currently operates the only major open-admission animal shelter west of the Missouri River in South Dakota.
