The annual K9-3K will be held on Saturday, June 11, right here on the grounds of the Humane Society of the Black Hills, 1820 E. St. Patrick Street. This will be the fourth annual event and, over those four years, this event has gotten increasingly better. This year, you’ll find contests for canine tricks and costumes, a dog agility course, photo booth, 50/50 raffle, and low-cost microchipping. Another thing we’re excited about is that the K9-3K marks the official kick-off of the first Paws-a-thon – a summer long walk/run fundraiser for the Humane Society.

This, like all of the events we host, is important for us for several reasons. First and foremost, it’s an opportunity to welcome you to the Humane Society and just share some time together enjoying the outdoors in a pet-friendly setting. We get to spend time with dog people and talk about dogs – that’s something everyone here certainly enjoys. Another reason events are so important to the Humane Society is that they are fundraisers and, now more than ever, raising money is critical to our mission – Serving Animals, Serving Community. And like we’ve said so many times – and it remains as true as ever – we can’t do this without your support.

So stop down, walk a lap or two, let your dog show off in the trick contest. Hope to see you on Saturday.
