We had an eventful year at the Humane Society of the Black Hills! Cats, dogs, rats, birds, fish, pigs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, goats, and even an axolotl graced us with their presence in 2021.
By year’s end, 4,000 animals had come through our doors and were adopted into good homes, received medical attention, were spayed or neutered to prevent unwanted litters, or returned home.
Behind the scenes we were busy, too: We were fortunate to work closely with the City Attorney’s office in the review and revisions of the city’s animal-related ordinances; two grants allowed us to provide better service to our customers and animals; the board of directors approved employer-provided insurance; and we launched new projects all designed to better meet our mission – Serving Animals, Serving Community.
None of these things would have happened without this community’s amazing support. Thank you for trusting us with your financial donations and gifts of food and supplies to help us provide humane care to the wonderful animals in our community.
