Uncle Blueberry’s Ultrafunrun

Attention Runners: Get ready for an endurance challenge for a great cause!  Help us meet our goal of raising $5,000 for the animals at the Humane Society of the Black Hills.

This brand new event is fit for all – from serious, endurance seekers to more casual participants.  Groups are highly encouraged to join and challenge one another to see who can raise the most funds for the animals.  Leashed dogs are welcome to join!  Pit crews and cheerleading sections are encouraged.

Take part in an endurance walk/run around a 1/3 mile loop right here at the Humane Society of the Black Hills (HSBH).  Registrants must secure sponsors for each lap they aim to complete to raise funds for the HSBH (i.e. if a runner had 10, $1 sponsors, they would raise $10 a lap.  If the runner completed 30 laps (10 miles) their total raised would be $300).  There is no registration fee – runners will generate their own lap sponsors.  Each runner/walker should have $100 in sponsor commitment to take part.  Total lap sponsorships will be matched up to $2,500 by Andy Bartling, Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial.

Start Time:
There will be a rolling start for the event from 7AM-10AM for the more serious runners, and a 10AM-11AM start time for more casual runners/walkers.  Only registered participants will be allowed on the course during the event.

Each participant is responsible for counting their own laps.  Serious, endurance challenge runners are encouraged to wear a distance tracking device to accurately record laps completed.  HSBH event staff will sign off on all laps so runners/walkers may report back to their sponsors.  All registrants will be provided with a pre-paid envelope so sponsors may mail their donations to the Humane Society of the Black Hills when the event is complete.

There will be awards for most laps completed and most funds raised.  The “most laps” award is geared for runners who seek a long run around a short track-challenge; “most raised” could go to anyone – even an individual who completes just one lap but has a $500 sponsor, for example.  There is also a costume element to the event.  Prizes will be awarded for best owner-dog lookalike and best group costume.  Announcements for award and prize winners will be announced when the race ends at 11AM.

Link for free registration coming soon!  All registrants will receive an entry packet containing their waiver to run/walk during the event as well as a sheet to gather sponsors.  All completed paperwork is due by 7AM the morning of the event to participate.

Event-specific merchandise will be available to purchase.  The HSBH event staff will provide water, hot cocoa, and coffee to participants and supporters.  Parking is available on-site and areas for base camps are available.
